Koncho Kisi Semi Sweet 2023

Koncho & Co is a medium-sized Georgian wine company that produces both conventional wines and (orange) wines from the Qvevri (large amphorae). Koncho is located in the town of Kvareli at the foot of the Caucasus Mountains. There is a lot of black slate in the vineyards here. The winemakers are Georgian but trained in Germany. They only use typical Georgian grape varieties. Many of Koncho's wines, including the orange wines, are aged in wood.

Terroir The grapes are harvested in the winery's own vineyards in the province of Kakhetia, at the foot of the Caucasus Mountains. The vineyards benefit from the cooling of the mountains and the soil is rich in black slate.
Harvest method handpicked
Yield per hectare 8 tons per hectare.
Vinification The grapes are destemmed and then pressed. Only the first pressing is used for this wine (that is less than 55% of the total amount of must). The alcoholic fermentation then takes place in stainless steel tanks, at 17-19°C, under strict temperature control. The fermentation is ended prematurely to obtain an unfortified, semi-sweet wine.
Impression Aromatic. Flowers and ginger syrup. Galia melon on the palate. Filming, accessible, half sweet.
Did you know? The Kisi is an indigenous Georgian grape that is highly regarded. It produces wines with good acidity and body. Suitable for making sweet as well as dry white or orange wines.
