Bott Frigyes is a special winemaker. He makes wines from volcanic vineyards in the south of Slovakia, right on the border with Hungary. A region where people speak Hungarian, because it was Hungary here until the First World War. And where Bott Frigyes honors the old wine traditions. By making beautiful wines from Hungarian and international grapes. With little intervention in the cellar, but with a lot of character in the glass.

The vineyards of Bott Frigyes are located on the flanks of the Muzsla hill. In the armpit of the Danube and the Hron (Garam in Hungarian) on the southern border of Slovakia. They used to belong to the vineyards of Esztergom Cathedral, on the other side of the Danube in Hungary. They have a soil of volcanic clay and slate. Particularly rich in minerals.

In the time of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, this was a renowned (Hungarian) wine region. After the First World War, the region fell into oblivion. It is Bott Frigyes' mission to showcase the rich culture of the region. To make it worthwhile for tourists to visit the region. By letting them enjoy good wines, preferably in combination with the gastronomic culture of the region.

For this reason, they work biodynamically in the vineyard. After all, it is about quality and the honor of the region. In the basement is intervened as little as possible. The grapes are fermented spontaneously. They mature in old wooden barrels and amphorae, for a very long time with the yeasts and without regulating the temperature. They are not clarified or filtered and hardly any sulphite is added. Natural wines in short. But then the super pure type, without weird 'mistakes'.

The wines are made by Frigyes (Hungarians always pronounce the surname first and then the first name) and his son Frici. They have Hungarian varieties in the vineyard like Furmint, Hárslevelű, Juhfark, Kékfrankos and Kadarka. In addition, they grow international varieties such as Pinot Blanc, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier.
