La Vigne Blanche 2020

Domaine d'Escausses is the winery of the Balaran family from Gaillac in the French Tarn region. In this relatively unknown region in the French Sud-Ouest, not far from the historic towns of Albi and Toulouse, Jean-Marc Balaran works with different indigenous grape varieties and makes the wines according to the tradition of the Tarn. His wines are the reference for other winemakers in the region. Jean-Marc has since been elected mayor of the village.

The syrah is picked, sorted and destemmed entirely by hand. Pre-maceration takes place at a low temperature of 5°C for the Syrah and Duras. Then the wine ferments for 18-20 days. The Merlot and Syrah undergo microbullage (a method developed in Madiran in which oxygen is injected into the must). 80% of the wine is aged for 12 months in stainless steel tanks and the remaining 20% is aged in wooden barrels.
Impression Medium to firm body and lots of fruit of cherries, berries and blackberries. A little tannin in the aftertaste. Good balance, typical southern French style.
