Landauer Zweigelt 2021

Weingut Landauer is a typical Austrian family business from the wine town of Rust in Burgenland. Since 1650, the Landauer family has been making dry and sweet wines from grapes from vineyards right on Lake Neusiedlersee for generations. They do this 'naturnah': with great respect for nature, with minimal use of pesticides.

Terroir The sunny southeast side of the hills around the town of Rust are like an amphitheater around the town and Lake Neusiedler. Here are some of Austria's best vineyards with a microclimate all of its own. The vast surface of Lake Neusiedler has been regulating temperature and humidity for thousands of years. Due to the large temperature differences between day and night, the wines are fresh and ripe. The number of hours of sunshine far exceeds the Austrian average. The vineyard 'Satz' has a heavy loamy soil with a calcareous subsoil.
Harvest method Handpicked.
Vineyard treatment Nee
Vinification The wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks and then aged for a year in large, used oak barrels.
Impression Purple red. Ripe blackberries, cherries and black currants. Juicy and slightly spicy and earthy. Slightly ripe tannins. Medium body.
Did you know? The Zweigelt was crossed in Austria in 1922 by Friedrich Zweigelt. He combines the elegance of 'mother' St. Laurent with the spirit of his Blaufränkische 'father'.
